Það eru ýmsar merkar minjar að finna víðast hvar um landið, þó við tökum oft á tíðum ekki eftir þeim.
Allir þessir staðir hafa einhverja sögu að segja og eru hluti af þeim Íslensku hetjum sem byggðu þetta land og komu okkur á þann stað sem við erum nú.
Lítum aðeins á þennan sérstæða steinkumbalda sem stendur á hól nokkrum á Vatnsleysuströnd.
Sagan segir að Stefán Sigurfinnson á Auðnum, ásamt fleirum stofnaði samtök meðal hreppsbúa sem byggðu rammgerða vindmyllu 1918-19. Skyldi hún mala þurrkuð bein úr sjávarafurðum til skepnufóðurs. Stendur þetta sérkennilega hús enn, þ.e. steyptir veggir sem talið er að Stefán hafi byggt.
Beinamyllan stóð stutt og var aflögð 1920-21. Tvennt kom þar til, fyrst var það að hún malaði of gróft og annað hitt að bilun var alltíð og því dýrt viðhald.
Þórarinn í Höfða var starfsmaður við mylluna þegar þess þurfti með og vindar blésu mátulega.
Það eru þessir menn, þessar hetjur sem ekki mega gleymast, því vegna áræðni og framtaksemi þeirra, erum við það sem við erum í dag.

There are various significant relics to be found in most parts of the country, but we often do not notice them.
All these places have a story to tell and are part of our Icelandic heroes who built this country and brought us to where we are now.
Let’s just take a look at this unique rock boulder that stands on a hill on Vatnsleysuströnd.
The story goes that Stefán Sigurfinnson in Auðnar, together with others, founded an association among the residents of the district who built a framed windmill 1918-19. She was to grind dried bones from seafood for animal feed. This peculiar house still stands, i.e. concrete walls that Stefán is believed to have built.
The bone mill lasted only for a short time and was abolished in 1920-21. There were two reasons for this, first it was that it was grinding too rough and the other was that it was always a failure and therefore expensive to maintain.
Þórarinn in Höfði was an employee at the mill when needed and the winds were moderate.
It is these men, these heroes who must not be forgotten, because of their boldness and initiative, we are what we are today.
