Í morgunn einsetti ég mér að fara út að taka myndir, sama hvernig veðrið væri. Það er búið að vera hundleiðinlegt ljósmyndaveður og ég var orðinn svolítið þreyttur á að sitja heima, þó þar séu næg verkefni.
Þegar út á Reykjanesbrautina var komið sá ég að það væri von á smá sólarglennu við Kleifarvatn svo þangað var stefnan tekinn.  Öldugangur var á vatninu, skýin voru ósköp flöt og sólin lét eitthvað á sér standa.

Ég kom mér fyrir á vel þekktum stað við Kleifarvatnið og fór að velta því fyrir mér hvernig mynd ég vildi taka.

Mig langaði að taka mynd þar sem vatnið væri stillt, Smá hreyfing væri á skýjunum og ég sæi einhverjar bylgju.  Forgrunnurinn átti að vera í fókus ásamt bakgrunnurinn og ég finndi fyrir dýptinni.  Hmm, ég vildi eiginlega allt, þó ekkert væri til staðar. Ég hló innra með mér.
Úbbs. Sólinn kíkti fram undan skýjunum svo nú þurfti að hafa snör handtök ef ég ætlaði að nýta mér birtuna, því glufan var lítil.

Ég skellti 16 – 35mm Canon linsunni á vélina (Canon EOS5DMKIV) og tróð Polarizing Filternum framan á (fljótgert því ég er að nota Kase filtera og þeir eru með segli – tær snilld) til þess að ná fram aðgreiningu á skýunum ef það væri þá hægt, setti ND 64 (1,8stopp) filter í fyrstu raufina (til að kyrra vatnið og ná fram smá hreyfingu á skýin) og GND 0,9 (3stopp) Soft Edge Graduated filter í raufina fyrir framan til að jafna út birtuna milli himinns og jarðar. Skellti öllu saman á þrífótinn og kom mér fyrir (var búinn að spotta út staðinn á meðan ég beið eftir sólarglennunni). Setti vélina á Manual. 16mm; ISO á 100; f/22; 15 sec og fókuseraði á mosann sem var næstur mér. Smellt svo af annarri mynd með sömu stillingum en nú með fókuseringuna á tangann sem fer út í vatnið.

Þetta lét ég nægja og fór heim.

Þegar heim var komið saumaði (stacking) ég myndirnar saman, litgreindi og hafði náð því fram sem mig langaði til. Myndefnið er klassískt og það er í góðu lagi því ég fór út að mynda.

This morning I decided to go out and take pictures, no matter how the weather would be. It’s been boring photo weather and I was a little tired of sitting at home, even though there are plenty of projects to solve.

When I got to Reykjanesbraut, I saw that there was hope for a little sunshine by Kleifarvatn, so I headed there. There where waves on the lake, the clouds were flat and the sun was stuck behind some clouds.

I settled in a well-known place by Kleifarvatn and began to wonder what kind of picture I wanted to take.

I wanted to take a picture where the Lake was calm, there was a little movement on the clouds and I could see some waves. The foreground was supposed to be in focus along with the background and I could feel the depth. Hmm, I really wanted everything, even though nothing was available. I laughed inside myself.

Oops. The sun was peeking out from under the clouds so now I had to have a tight grip if I was going to take advantage of the light, because the gap was small.

I slammed the 16 – 35mm Canon lens on the camera (Canon EOS5DMKIV) and pushed the Polarizing Filter onto the front lass (easy because I am using Kase filters and they have a magnet – outstanding design) to get the waves in the clouds if possible , put an ND 64 (1.8stopp) filter in the first slot (to calm the water and get some movement on the clouds) and a GND 0.9 (3stopp) Soft Edge Graduated filter in the front slot to even out the light between the sky and of the earth. I slammed everything together on the tripod and went to my position (I had already mocked the place while I was waiting for the sunshine). Set the camera to Manual. 16mm; ISO at 100; f / 22; 15 sec and focused on the moss that was next to me. Then click on another image with the same settings but now with the focus on the peninsula that goes out into the water almost at the centre of the photo.

I let this suffice and went home.

When I got home, I stacked the pictures together, color-corrected them and achieved what I almost wanted. The footage is classic and its fine because I just went out to enjoy taking some pictures.
