Það er orðinn langur tími síðan ég hef tekið Norðurljósamyndir, en þar sem þau komu snemma, og í bakgarðinn hjá mér þá lét ég mig hafa það að fara út og smella af nokkrum myndir. Hér er ein af þeim. Til þess að minnka birtuna frá húsinu notaði ég KASE filter GND 0,6 öfugt
Frá sólinni berst í sífellu svonefndur sólvindur sem er straumur rafhlaðinna agna. Þegar vindurinn nálgast jörðina hrindir segulsvið jarðarinnar honum frá sér nema í kringum segulpólana. Þar sleppur eitthvað af ögnunum inn í segulsviðið.
Þegar eindirnar rekast á lofthjúp jarðar, í um 100-250 km hæð örvast sameindir og frumeindir í hjúpnum og þær senda frá sér sýnilegt ljós sem við köllum norður- eða suðurljós.
It’s been a long time since I’ve taken pictures of the Northern Lights, but since they came early, and in my backyard, I decided to go outside and snap a few pictures. Here is one of them. In order to reduce the light from the house, I used KASE filter GND 0.6 in reverse
The bright dancing lights of the #aurora are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. They are known as ‘Aurora borealis’ in the north and ‘Aurora australis’ in the south..
Auroral displays appear in many colours although pale green and pink are the most common. Shades of red, yellow, green, blue, and violet have been reported. The lights appear in many forms from patches or scattered clouds of light to streamers, arcs, rippling curtains or shooting rays that light up the sky with an eerie glow.
