Þessi mynd sýnir okkur það svæði sem eldgosið er hugsanlegt. Ég hef sett inn nöfnin á helstu fjöllum sem talað er um svo við leikmennirnir getum glöggvað okkur á því hvað verið er að tala um í fréttum.
Reykjanes eldfjallasvæðið á SV Íslandi er staðsett þar sem Mið-Atlantshafshryggurinn kemur upp á land. Það myndar víðfeðmt svæði með mörgum gossprungum, hraunbreiðum, hverum og leirhverum.
Gosið er ekki hafið enn, en vísindamenn telja að kvikan nálgist yfirborðið. Ef eldgos kemur upp mun það líklega ekki ógna byggð og öskufall verður líklegast lítið sem ekkert.
Óróapúls hefur mælst á svæðinu sem bendir til þess að eldgos gæti verið yfirvofandi. Eldgos ekki byrjað á Reykjanesskaga en virknin bendir til þess að það gæti verið yfirvofandi fljótlega, í raun erum við að bíða eftir að það gerist þegar þú ert að lesa þessi skrif.

This picture shows us the area where the eruption is possible. I have put the names of the main mountains that are talked about so that we the players can understand what is being talked about in the news.
Reykjanes volcano in SW Iceland is located where the Mid Atlantic Ridge emerges onto land. It forms a vast area with many eruptive fissures, lava fields, hot springs and mud pools.
The eruption has not yet started but scientists believe magma is nearing the surface. If an eruption occurs, it likely won’t threaten inhabited areas and ashfall will likely be minimal or non-existent.
A tremor pulse has been detected in the area, indicating that an eruption could be imminent. Eruption has NOT started on the Reykjanes peninsula but activity suggests that it might be imminent soon; actually we are waiting for it to happen as you read this writing.
