Sérkennilegt háhitasvæði upp af Höskuldarvöllum er litríkt leirgil sem kallast því skrítna nafni Sogin og hafa mótast af jarðhita og eldvirkni í iðrum jarðar. Sogin eru í raun leirgil sem ber merki um mikinn jarðvarma og eldvirkni. Ekki eru þar neinir hverir á yfirborðinu en sums staðar má þó finna brennisteinslykt og maður á auðvelt með að ímynda sér að stutt sé niður á bullandi leir og gufustróka. Í gegnum gilin rennur Sogalækur en á Reykjanessskaga eru ekki margir lækir eða ár, þar sem yfirborðið er víðast þakið gljúpum en fallega mosavöxnum hraunum. Sogin eru einkar litrík og minna um margt á Jökulgil á Torfajökulssvæðinu, enda þótt þau séu miklu minni. Þau er því stundum kölluð Litlu Landmannalaugar en ólíkt Torfajökulssvæðinu og hverasvæðinu í Krýsuvík, sem er skammt frá, státa þau ekki lengur spúandi hverum. Engu að síður er svæðið allt sannkölluð útivistarparadís og litadýrð Soganna minnir óneitanlega á olíumálverk.
A peculiar high-temperature area up from Höskuldarvellir is a colorful clay gorge called the strange name Sogin and has been shaped by geothermal heat and volcanic activity in the bowels of the earth. The suction is actually a clay gorge that shows signs of high geothermal heat and volcanic activity. There are no hot springs on the surface, but in some places you can smell sulfur and it is easy to imagine that it is a short distance down to the steam jets. Sogalækur flows through the gorge, but on the Reykjanes peninsula there are not many streams or rivers, where the surface is mostly covered with porous but beautiful moss-grown lava. The sucks are particularly colorful and reminiscent of Jökulgil in the Torfajökull area, although they are much smaller. They are therefore sometimes called Small Landmannalaugar, but unlike the Torfajökull area and the thermal area in Krýsuvík, which is close by, they no longer have spitting hot springs. Nevertheless, the whole area is a true outdoor paradise and the colorful splendor of the Sog is undeniably reminiscent of oil paintings.
